"Twang"
Since the 1950s, the typical treble-rich sound of this type of guitar has been called twang.
Initially, the T-style models were mainly used in Country and Rock‘ n‘ Roll music. Still, thanks to their distinctive, assertive single-coil sound and their robust construction, they have found their way into all musical genres worldwide – from Jazz to Blues to Rock and Alternative or Indie Music.
SINCE THE 1950S, THE TERM "TWANG" HAS BEEN USED TO DESCRIBE THE TYPICAL, OVERTONE-RICH SOUND OF THIS GUITAR STYLE, WHICH REDEFINED THE COUNTRY AND ROCK 'N' ROLL SOUND FORMULAS OF THE TIME.
The MAYBACH® Texonian
To keep the twang sound from becoming unpleasant, the Maybach Texonian models are equipped with special pickups from Amber or Van Zandt on our Custom Shop Guitars. That brings out the best tonal characteristics of the respective woods used for the body, neck, and fingerboard – a masterful combination!
