  • Why We Built Airbourne: A Modern Maybach Created for High-Gain Power, Precision, and Relentless Performance

Airbourne is Maybach’s modern metal workhorse, built for tight rhythm work, articulate leads and tuned stability. Aggressive styling, precision fretwork and high output pickups deliver focused gain tones on stage, in studio and at home.

When the first generation of high gain guitars appeared, no one realised they were about to redraw the map for heavy music. From the late eighties onwards, these instruments shaped the sound of modern metal, powered entire new genres and became the backbone of players who demanded speed, accuracy and unstoppable clarity. Without them, the landscape of contemporary heavy guitar would look very different.

The Maybach Airbourne Series takes that legacy and moves it forward with purpose. Every Airbourne is built for players who live in the heavier end of the spectrum, and we approach that responsibility with the same attention, discipline and musical intent that define all Maybach instruments.

The model’s aggressive outline, extended access and fast, modern neck profiles are designed around real world performance demands. Every component and contour is chosen to support stability, accuracy and long sessions on stage or in the studio. Lightweight but rigid tonewoods provide the ideal platform for articulate, high output tones with exceptional note separation.

Two areas are central to the Airbourne identity. The first is feel. The combination of a contemporary carve, compound radius and precision fretwork creates an effortless playing experience that encourages both speed and control. The second is electronics. Airbourne is voiced by CORE Pickups, a new generation of high gain designs created in Germany for uncompromising clarity, punch and definition. Whether it is the Mesh bridge, Slot neck or Duality set, each configuration delivers huge power without sacrificing musicality.

Every Maybach Airbourne is finished in a thin, durable polyurethane designed for longevity and stage use, and each model is supplied in the Maybach Luxus Case.

  • Who this guitar is for?

The Airbourne is Maybach’s high-output, performance-driven design, created with modern heavy music in mind. Sharp lines, focused construction, and an aggressive tonal character give it a direct, uncompromising feel while remaining firmly rooted in Maybach’s build quality and attention to detail.

  • Finishes

The Airbourne colour range draws on classic finishes refined through a contemporary palette, allowing the guitar’s form, materials, and proportions to remain the focus. Each colour is selected to work with the natural lines of the instrument rather than compete with them, resulting in a look that feels intentional, timeless, and stage-ready without relying on short-lived trends.
